About Session

Generative AI (like GPT models) has captured imaginations, but how can finance functions derive real value from it? This session cuts through the hype to share practical use cases of generative AI in finance – from automating narrative reports to analyzing contracts – and discusses lessons learned and pitfalls to avoid. CFOs will gain a balanced view of where gen AI can truly augment finance and where caution is warranted, based on early adopters’ experiences.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will learn concrete generative AI applications for finance teams (e.g. automating management report commentary, creating chatbot assistants for policy queries, summarizing large financial documents) and how these use cases have improved productivity or insight.
  • Attendees will understand the limitations and risks of generative AI in finance – including issues of accuracy, data privacy, and model bias/hallucinations – and learn governance practices to mitigate these challenges before scaling any solution.
  • Attendees will leave with criteria to evaluate generative AI opportunities through a finance lens: how to prioritize projects with clear ROI, how to involve stakeholders (e.g., legal, IT) to ensure compliance, and how to maintain “healthy skepticism” amid the enthusiasm for new AI tools.
