What’s In Your Tech Stack?
Our core systems and tools are relatively typical. We use Netsuite for our GL, Adaptive for FP&A, FloQast for closing, Shareworks for equity management, etc., and then use a series of other tools to facilitate collaboration, workflow support and reporting. We integrate into data pools so that our financial information is shared and accessible and can be integrated with other business, operating data and KPIs.
Our current focus is on automation (yes, AI!), using things like Gemini Gems for routine processes and analysis, and we’re also doing more with Agentic AI tools to support our technical and operational aspects of revenue such as invoice reconciliations (to contractual terms) and monitoring of routing inboxes.
What’s your joy, and what’s your headache?
Joy is when IT systems just work! They provide a seamless experience for users while keeping the business protected. What used to feel like friction instead becomes something helpful and even predictive. Purchasing and using IT systems should add value instead of getting in the way.
Headaches occur when those same systems create too many roadblocks, causing frustrations for both the business user and customer. A successful business needs to run efficiently across all business processes.
If you could wave a magic wand, what would you make software companies do for you?
It’s important that software companies understand the business need before jumping right to the transaction. The expectation is that companies are factoring in the important things (e.g., cost, policies and performance data) while keeping brand requirements top of mind. From understanding the business landscape, companies can then provide tailored recommendations with simplified end-to-end workflows.
For example, say you’re a business user who needs swag for an upcoming event with 30 partners. The software system should review the event’s budget and share approved vendors while prioritizing quality. After receiving a few options, your selection is made, and the workflow is automatically set in motion. The magic wand is the process being so clear that when teams like finance or event marketing ask to assess ROI, the spend data is at the ready with no extra work required.
What’s your best piece of tech advice for others in your job?
The best way to identify what new tools will help your business most is by using them in your day-to-day activities.
